With the release of REST Professional Version 11 and the start of the silly season, now may be a good time to plan and ensure your technical infrastructure is performing at its best.  It’s easy to forget that an efficiently operating network is an integral part of your business.

Remember the better your hardware and faster your network is the faster REST Professional will be able to process data.

Take a moment to click onto the link below to preview the Recommended System Requirements to ensure performance of your system is suitable for your agency operations.

A healthy network will also minimise Run-time Errors, Ghost Users, Data Time-Outs and System Recovery Failures.

The cheque printing step is a multi-functioned step in REST. When you process this step REST will:

  • Print cheques for any owners with this payment method
  • Charge Postage and Sundries
  • Split owner funds for any split owners setup in REST

It is VERY important to remember that even if your portfolio does not have any owners with a payment method of ‘Cheque’, you must still process your owner cheques.

If you don’t, you will not charge your owners their Postage & Sundries fees and any owners set up with split payments will not be split.

Also, be mindful not to process your Cheque printing step more than once or you may overcharge your Postage & Sundries fees and the Split Payments to owners will be incorrect.

Important Points to Remember

  • Never bypass the cheque printing step at end of month.
  • Never process the cheque printing step twice at end of month. Call Rockend to RESTORE to the backup prior to the cheque printing step.
  • When Paying out Split Owners ensure that you do the cheque printing step, even if they are paid by EFT.
  • If you hand write your cheques, ensure that you still print the cheques in REST onto plain paper.

It is important to ensure that any ABA and B-Pay files that contain your creditor and owner payments are uploaded to your banking software prior to completing Files Update.

If there are any errors in the files, the files can be cancelled and amended and then recreated for upload to the bank.

If you upload the files after you have completed your files update, and the file contains errors, you may be required to restore or amend if the file. It is highly recommended that you contact Support and clarify how this needs to be rectified on 1300 657 700.
